Videography Portfolio

Filmed and edited PSA that was featured on Na Leo TV and at the Palace Theater to raise awareness for “The Wall That Heals – Hawai’i County”.

“The Wall That Heals – Hawai’i County”, came to Hilo Bayfront on the Big Island January 22 and was open to the public January 24-28, 2024. There was a need for a Public Service Announcement to help make the community aware of the event, so 808AV8R Productions sprang into action to deliver. Go to their website: www.thewallthatheals-hawaiicounty.org. The Wall That Heals is also in Maui from February 9-13, 2024 at the War Memorial Stadium, 700 Halia Nakoa Street, Wailuku, HI. https://www.thewallthathealsmaui.com/# Let’s show our support for the Vietnam Veterans!

The Wall That Heals – Hawai’i County is a truly remarkable and life changing experience.

From January 22-28, 2024 (with display dates of January 24-28, 2024), Hilo, Hawai’i bears the unique honor of hosting the traveling replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

This 3/4 size exact replica has journeyed across the Pacific Ocean first time in almost 30 years.

Remember and honor the lives of the 58,281 servicemen and women whose sacrifice changed the way the world looks at war and the way our country treats its warriors.

Hawaiian F-22s perform a “Missing Man” formation to honor the fallen soldiers over Hilo Bayfront at The Wall That Heals – Hawai’i County weeklong display of the traveling 3/4-scale exact replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall. Hilo, Hawai’i is so proud to host this event, and the “Welcome Home” ceremonies today were the pinnacle of the memorial. The dedication of the spectrum of entities that came together, from the HIANG to the Royal Hawaiian Honor Guard, to pay respects to the fallen and support their loved ones was truly spectacular and moving. On January 27, 2024, at precisely Noon, Four F-22s from the 199th Fighter Squadron, 154th Wing, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, executed the Missing Man formation to honor the fallen heroes from the Vietnam War. The flight was commanded by Major Kealoha Kaawaloa and Captain Triton Peltier flew the Missing Man maneuver.

Nights at The Wall That Heals – Hawaii County were truly breathtaking and unforgettable! The memory and tribute that the memorial paid to those 58,281 veterans who lost their lives in the Vietnam War and the many more that returned home only to succumb to the after-effects of that terrible conflict was both solemn and peaceful. The Wall That Heals absolutely shone, bathed in the beautiful glow of its lights that lit the memory of those fallen. The beautiful oceanside setting of Hilo Bayfront, with its calm evening sea breezes, backdrop of gently swaying palm trees and the rising moon directly over the monument filled us with a sense of wonder and gratitude. Here are some of the moments of those ethereal nighttime scenes that, just like those warriors so dear to us, will live forever in the hearts and minds of the people of Hawai’i.

What better way to start the first day of the rest of your lives together than at sunset on a beach in Hawai’i! While this video only has a frame or two of aerial footage, the stabilized sequences I was able to capture on the Black Magic 6K Pro/ Ronin RS2 combo really helped to record this memorable wedding proposal on the beach and the moments leading up to it in a way that preserves these cherished memories for this beautiful couple. Everything from the daytime scenes at epic locations on the Big Island to the amazing sunset and golden hour that led to the blue hour evening beach shots at the end really came together in such a lovely and cohesive tribute to the blossoming of their love on the beginning of their journey of a lifetime.

I shot this aerial video using the DJI Mavic 3 Cine drone at the end of March near the Kailua Kona pier off of Ali’i Drive, close to the King Kamehameha Hotel. The sunset and lighting was perfect, even though it had been a cloudy day with multiple showers up the leeward slopes that eventually moved down to the coast, bringing rare rains to the usually-dry Kona town after dark that night. If you ever come to Kailua-Kona on the Big Island of Hawai’i, this is the scene you’ll surely witness as you take an evening stroll down the busy, tourist-friendly Ali’i Drive, once the capitol of the Hawaiian Kingdom in the days of King Kamehameha. Hope you all enjoy!

Honeymoon Island Sunset

This spectacular sunset over Honeymoon Island State Park on North Point Hog Island near Palm Harbor on the Gulf Coast of Florida (near Tampa) epitomizes the idyllic Florida sunsets seen over the Gulf of Mexico. The colors get deeper and deeper after the sun goes down. As the sun sets, fishermen head out for some evening trolling. Others fish from the pier while basking in the fading glow. Cranes and herons ply the nearshore waters, and even attend to the fishermen on the dock, hoping for a last minute dinner. The train of traffic files back over the causeway as they leave the state park, the evening’s light show still fresh in their minds. HI-Site Aerial services and 808av8r.com have been filming sunrises and sunsets in Hawaii for years. The sunsets as seen from the Western Florida coastline over the Gulf of Mexico are unique spectacles in and of themselves and rank right up there with the best.

This spectacular timelapse video showcases the view of the Honolulu skyline from just offshore near the Ala Moana Boat Harbor near Waikiki is absolutely stunning after the sun sets! The high rises and busy Oahu traffic, a stark image during the day in contrast to the once pristine tropical backdrop, present an exciting and vibrant scene from 100′ in the air at night time. The glass elevator of the Hilton Hawaiian Village at Waikiki Lagoon Tower ascends and descend in the background, while boats come and go on nighttime cruises from the Ala Moana Small Boat Harbor. Evening crowds pour out of the parking lot at Magic Island Beach Park after watching the weekly Friday night fireworks launched for the resort. Tall buildings line the shore just on the other side of Ala Moana Boulevard.

On November 8th, 2023, the workers of Malama Market in the Puna Kai Shopping Center in Pahoa, Hawai’i went on strike. Workers are part of the local UFCW 480 United Food & Commercial Workers Union out of Honolulu, HI. Workers who work in the food preparation department that handle meat, fish, and poultry are protesting unfair treatment and low wages. According to UFCW 480 President Pat Loo, the issues have been contested and remained unresolved for the last 2 years, prompting the workers to vote to take action. Loo states that workers in the same occupations in other nearby cities on the island make $11.05/hr. more which amounts to $23,000 per year difference in salary compared to the Malama Market workers of Pahoa. The Union is prepared to be on strike indefinitely until a satisfactory outcome for the workers can be reached. 808AV8R was live on the scene as soon as the strike began and immediately rushed into action to bring you this breaking story.

We Remember

On Memorial Day, we remember those who made the ultimate scrifice for our safety, for our country. We remeber those who gave their lives for our freedom. This footage was taken at Veterans’ Day ceremonies hosted on November 11th, 2022 by the local VFW Post here in Hawaii and held at the Veterans Cemetary here in Hilo on the Big Island. It is a fitting testament to the great contributions Hawaiians have made to freedom and amount of respect that those here in Hawai’i have for all who have served. The veteran cause and remembering those who gave the ultimate sacrifice as well as caring for those who served is a topic that is near and dear to the heart of many in Hawai’i. At the epicenter of the Pacific theater WWII and the crossroads of the world for many of the wars and conflicts that followed, Hawai’i’s residents, fathers, mothers, sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends put so much on the line to stand up for freedom. Filmed on DJI Mavic 3 Cine and Black Magic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro.
